UNIVersal Automatic Computer (UNIVAC) was the first professional computer built in the United States. John Prepper Eckert and John Mauchly designed UNIVAC. They could handle alphabet characters and numbers. The first business computer was UNIVAC - 1 in 1954 by General Election Corporation.
