Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives. We share almost 99 percent of our DNA with them. Chimps share some of our brain power as well. They live in social communities, adapt to different environments and complete tasks with teamwork. Chimpanzees can learn sign language, and they can also recognize themselves in the mirror.
Chimpanzees can learn and perform cognitive and creative tasks, and they have a better memory than any other animal. They have also demonstrated the ability to think ahead by using tactical attack maneuvers, such as flanking their prey. They have also been seen using stones to open nuts and leaves to soak up water.
