The Broncos do not play today. The quarterback of the Denver Broncos Payton Manning retired on March 7, 2016. Manning had been in the NFL for 18 seasons and he chose to tell the press about his retirement during a conference at the team's headquarters. The Denver Broncos have started making changes regarding a new quarterback following Manning's retirement. Some of these include the backup quarterback Brock Osweiler. Brock is back with the Denver Broncos after being traded with the Browns and the Houston Texans.
Another change is the trade of the Philadelphia Eagles' Mark Sanchez and choosing Paxton Lynch from the draft in 2016. The second-year quarterback Trevor Siemian, Lynch and Sanchez wanted the position of the starting quarterback during the preseason and the off-season. Sieman was chosen as the starting quarterback after Sanchez was dismissed. The Denver Broncos did not make the playoffs for the first time in 7 years. The team finished the season 9–7. Additionally, the coach Kubiak told eveeryone that he was in poor health and had to retire. This happened on January 2, 2017.
