Science was derived from a Latin word known as “Scientia,” and the basic meaning of this word is “knowledge.” Hence, we can say that the real name of science is simply “knowledge.” Science deals broadly with the natural world or the universe, and it approaches things by experiment and predictions, all for the purpose of finding out the fact behind an existence.
Science can be traced to Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt as far back as 3500 to 3000 BCE. The invention or development of science actually brings about many fields of study, such as biology, mathematics, medicine, astronomy, philosophy, physics, chemistry, and many others.
All these work towards the acquisition of knowledge, and this has largely affected our environments at large, thereby bringing about civilization and great improvement in technology. All the heroes of science are well known for seeking knowledge, which has made them achieve quite a lot.
