Why does Ron ask Fleur to the Yule Ball in the Harry Potter movies?

Ron asked Fleur Delacour to the Yule Ball under the influence of her Veela charm after which he ran away. Later he suggested that He goes to Yule Ball with Hermione and Harry goes with Ginny, but unfortunately, Hermione had secretly accepted to go Viktor Krum and Ginny had accepted to go with Neville. Ron and Harry manage to get themselves dates to the Yule Ball. Harry attended with Parvati and Ron with Padma Patil.
