When a nurse is assessing an 8-year old child with asthma, an immediate intervention should be provided if she senses what is known as Audible Wheezing. Audible wheezing is a coarse rattle medical expert is trained to hear in patients with certain conditions, which are usually caused by difficult respiration.

In the case of an 8-year old child with asthma, the nurse can easily sense this sound without the use of a stethoscope because the sound is distinct enough to be heard with the human ear. Wheezing is an indication that something is happening to the respiratory system of the patient.

Most times, it shows the airway is partially blocked, probably due to a cold, an allergic reaction, etc. One of the symptoms of asthma, heart failure is wheezing. While this can stop on its own, it could also be an indication of a serious heart condition. That is why once this is sensed by the nurse, immediate intervention should be provided.

The correct answer to this question is Audible wheezing. This sound can be heard without the use of the medical tool called the stethoscope. When this occurs, it indicates that there is an issue with the airways, which is causing them to be compromised. The airways are not clear, which would cause the wheezing in the eight year old.

This is not a normal symptom that a normal eight year old would have. 8 year olds are young and have better health that should not result in difficultly breathing or clogged airways. They may have asthma, which should be treated early.

Audible wheezing is known to be the most alarming out of all the various symptoms that are mentioned. When the 8-year old girl’s breathing can be heard without the use of a stethoscope, this means that the airways are not clear.

The respiratory rate of 30 per minute is considered to be the normal respiratory rate at that age. There are many causes of round faces but for what the patient is experiencing, it may not be relevant. A child who is suffering from asthma is expected to use inhalers too.

Audible wheezing

Audible wheezing, that is heard without a stethoscope, is an indication that the airways are significantly compromised. This is an expected respiratory rate of an 8 year old child. Individuals who have asthma often receive corticosteroids, which could cause a round face: however, this does not require nursing intervention. The use of inhalant medications is expected.
